Reverend Wesley Witcher, Pastor Glenn Murphy, and Pastor Fred Oates officiated. Casket bearers were Scott Goekler, Chris Bryant, Duane Bryant, Randall Murphy, John Bryant, and Brad Murphy. Honorary Casket bearers were Colton Miller, Alex Goekler, Billy Bryant, Zach Goekler, Kristian Briggs, Larry Briggs, and Jim Goekler.
Lori was born October 23, 1967, in Tulsa, OK, to James Richard Briggs and Judy Kay (Bryant) Briggs. She passed away July 10, 2024, in Tulsa, OK.
Lori loved family, friends, and Oklahoma Sooner football, and if you were smart, you didn’t say anything negative about any of the above.
She met Michael Edward Sherman in 1998, and they were married on November 16, 2002. Their marriage ended in September 2005 just shy of 3 years, when Mike passed away at the young age of 46. She graduated from Sperry High Schol in 1985 and then later went to Career Point Institute and learned medical billing and coding. Lori worked in this field for more than 20 years for various companies. She briefly owned and operated a small business in 2019, called Bakehouse Deli in Sperry, where she showcased some of her cooking talents. Lori also did other side jobs that she enjoyed, like making floral arrangements, wreaths, and candy bouquets for special occasions and holidays. She was very creative and talented and had a very big, infectious laugh with a sense of humor to match.
She is survived by her children, Hunter Paige Briggs of Owasso, and Payton Cole “Petey” Sherman of Tulsa; father, James R. Briggs, Sr. of Flower Mound, TX; siblings, James R. Rick” Briggs, Jr. and wife, Kendra of Argyle, TX, and Kimberly Dawn Miller and husband, Chris of Salina; 5 nieces and one nephew, that she loved dearly; 2 great-nieces; 3 great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Edward Sherman; and her mother, Judy Kay Briggs.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
