Memorial services for Lonnie Holbrook, Jr., of Tulsa, OK, were held Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home in Sperry, OK. Pastor Lonnie Holbrook officiated.

Lonnie was born in Scotland, AR on August 25, 1927, to Lonnie Holbrook, Sr. and Clara Delilah (Hogan) Holbrook. He left this earth peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on June 25, 2024, just two months shy of 97. in Tulsa, OK.

Lonnie had one younger brother, Jerry. Lonnie was eight years old when they lost their father. The family moved to Elk City, Oklahoma and he started working for the Elk City Daily News at age 12. At the age of 18, Lonnie joined the U.S. Navy. He was a Seaman First Class, WWII veteran. He toured on a Navy ship. During Lonnie’s remaining time on tour, he was introduced to the Navy print shop and became an offset pressman, and lithographer. After his time in the Navy, Lonnie went to Oklahoma City and worked for LePage Printing. He met and later married Dolores Frances Dotter on February 17, 1950. LePage Printing later moved to Tulsa and became Rodgers Litho. There in Tulsa, he worked for 17 years. At the end of 1950, Lonnie and Dolores had their first born, Debra Lynn. In 1952, they bought their first home on Newton Street and his mastermind of owning his own business began. And…the rest of the Holbrook Clan of five followed suit…Terry in 1953, Pamela in 1955, Robyn in 1960, and Kym in 1963. Lonnie ran a successful family owned and operated lithographic printing business. With his wife, Dolores working by his side, together they made daily sacrifices for the family. He was the happiest man alive to have helped raise their five children, introducing them one by one to the business as they got older. “Dad was our backbone, our driving force to be our best, and only wished for all our own success in life. He teased everyone he loved and was well-known for his hilarious one-liners.” He was the kindest, friendliest, funniest, most patient and generous man you’d ever want to meet. He never met a stranger. Lonnie retired at the age of 90. He loved music and listened to all his old-time favorites and continued listening throughout his life. In his rare-spare time off he was a TV sports enthusiast, and loved watching basketball and tennis, and 60 Minutes every Sunday. Lonnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He gave so much love, his time and attention to everyone inside and outside his household. His seat cannot be taken, and his shoes will never be filled. He will be truly missed by everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Holbrook; children, Debra Campbell, Terry Holbrook, Pamela Rockwell, Robyn Greenhaw, and Kym Bakel; grandchildren, Tara Craig, Amanda Montanez, Terry Holbrook, Jr., Lonnie Marlon Holbrook, Marla Bryan, Brooklynn Parsons, Kevin Rockwell, II, Anthony Moody, Britney Greenhaw, Calvin Bakel, and Austin Campbell; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie, Sr., and Clara Holbrook; brother, Jerry Holbrook and wife, Patricia; grandsons, Michael Campbell, Rocky Campbell, and Christopher Campbell; mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Daisy and Virgil Daughhetee.

We deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness, love and support from all the ones who have given so much of their time and generosity.
