Funeral Services for Laura Josephine Jones, 90, of Muskogee, will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 10:00 am at the New Hope Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. The Reverend Steve Alexander will officiate and burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. Pallbearers are Rusty Jones, Dusty Jones, Tracy Hoos, Kevin Jones, David Jones, and Harris Jones. Arrangements and services are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Laura was born July 27, 1919 in Muskogee, OK to Harlan C. and Alta Lee (Best) Ellis. She passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Muskogee, OK.
Laura was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked at Harris-Jobe Elementary School as a cafeteria manager and at Sally Brown Elementary School. She was involved with Meals on Wheels and the Home Extension. She was a volunteer at the Gospel Rescue Mission.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Danny Nevitt and the staff of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center and Horizon Hospice of Checotah, OK.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Jones of the home; sons, Paul Allen and wife Sandra of Muskogee, and Joel Jones and wife Therese of Broken Arrow, grandchildren; Rusty Jones and wife Renee of Muskogee, Dusty Jones and wife Jennifer of Broken Arrow, Kristi Hoos and husband Tracy of Broken Arrow, Kelly Freedman and husband Robert of Coppell, TX, Kevin Jones and wife Jennifer of Omaha, NE, and David Jones of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Harris Jones, Hannah Jones, Evan Jones, Ryan Jones, Trey Hoos, Caden Hoos, Noah Freedman, Zoe Freedman, Mia Freedman, Madison Jones, Carson Jones, Avery Jones, and Gavin Jones; brother, Harlan Ellis and wife Charlene of Muskogee; sisters, Helen Rae and husband Bill of CA, Mary Cragg of Muskogee, Fannie Delmedico and husband Frank of Tahlequah, Frances Jones and husband Dwaine, June Carter and husband Sam of Chouteau; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Alta Ellis; sisters, Lorraine Beard and Betty Garst; and brother, Simon Ellis.
