Funeral services for Larry Mark Mayberry, 76, of Skiatook, OK, were held Friday, May 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Skiatook, OK. Pastor Chad Thompson and Pastor Dennis Harrison officiated, and burial was in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket bearers were Lonnie Mayberry, Maximus Mayberry, Henry Mayberry, Ezra Hargis, Matt “Iron Man”, Bragg, Lonny “Chaucer” Bearden, J.D. Prather, Randy Collins, and Byron “Sasquatch” Howton.
Larry was born April 12, 1948, in Chickasha, OK. His parents were Mark and Alma (Scott) Mayberry. He passed away April 25, 2024, in Tulsa, OK.
Larry was an Army veteran, who proudly served his country from 1968-1970 as a parachute rigger. He jumped what he packed. Larry worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk and carrier retiring in 2003. Later, he was a bus driver for Skiatook Public Schools and Sperry Public Schools for many years. He loved motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed reading about guns, cars and motorcycles and also collected vintage razors and shaving brushes, although he never used any of them. For over 20 years, Larry loved being Santa for his grandchildren, Claire, Max, Lucy, and Henry. He was also Santa for Jolley’s Photography and The Little Lighthouse, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, various schools and numerous family members, friends, and co-workers.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa (Hearon) Mayberry; son, Lonnie Mayberry and wife, Ellen; grandchildren, Claire Hargis and husband, Ezra, Maximus Mayberry, Lucy Mayberry, and Henry Mark Mayberry; mother-in-law, Remona T. White; Larry was a second dad to Roy Brown; numerous foster children; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mom and pop, Alma and Mark Mayberry.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
