Larry Carter Hudson Sr. was born on October 4, 1949 to Lloyd and Kathleen Hudson, in Turley, Oklahoma. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was ushered into God’s presence on February 5, 2012. Larry was at home, surrounded by his family when he passed away at the age of 62 years.
Larry graduated in 1968 from McClain High School. Proudly, he then decided to serve his country and enlisted in the army as an M.P. On June 26, 1970 Larry married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Jean Hightower. They made their home in Kansas until his term was complete, upon which, they moved to Tulsa, and lived there until moving to Avant in 1981. They were blessed with three children and fifteen grandchildren. Larry retired from the Postal Service in August of 2000. His dream was to live in the country and raise cattle, God granted his wish and in 1989 he was able to purchase forty acres in rural Skiatook, on which he built a home and lived until he passed away. He was an active member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church, where he served in various ministries. Cornerstone, formerly Northside F.W.B Church, was started in 1955, at the home of his parents. Larry had a great love for the outdoors, which allowed him to impact countless lives through the years as he taught them to treasure God, and His creation. Through this he was able to teach his family and friends, the value of spending time with each other, as they hunted, camped, fished and gardened together. He was loved by many and left a legacy that will continue in the lives of all that knew him.
Larry is survived by his wife Beverly Hudson of the home; daughter, Michelle Leonard and husband Michael of rural Skiatook; sons, Larry Hudson Jr. and wife Emalie of Pikeville, NC, and Eric Hudson and wife Danielle of Collinsville; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and also a younger brother Lynn C. Hudson, who passed away only minutes before Larry.
Funeral services were held at Cornerstone F.W.B Church, February 10th, at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made in memory of Larry Hudson Sr. to the ministry of his son, Larry Hudson Jr. Child Evangelism Fellowship of N.C. 439 Pike’s Cemetery Road Pikeville, N.C. 27863.
