Lanell Rios

Funeral services for Lanell (Vanarsdel) Rios, 75, of Tulsa, OK, were held Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phillip Johnson officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Michael White, Tracy Jones, Dillon Stewart, Matthew White, Joseph Williams and Marty Sproles. Honorary Casket bearers were Cody Morgan, Joshua Ramos, Bailey Sharp and Mitchell James.

Lanell was born September 28, 1943 in Jenks, OK to Robert Lee Vanarsdel and Rosa May (Hinds) Vernoy. She passed away March 29, 2019 in Tulsa, OK.

Lanell always enjoyed life. Although it wasn’t easy, she knew how to make the best of it and keep moving forward. She ruled the roost as we would say. Everyone in the family looked up to her and respected her opinion and advice. Memories of her singing, dancing, and her laugh will forever be cherished. Family was always very important to Lanell and she loved everyone very much. Lanell’s request was for her family to rejoice in her life she shared here; for she is starting her new life with loved ones passed before her.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy Rios of Tulsa; daughters, Donna Jones and husband, Tracy of Tulsa. Kay Neighbors of Bristow, Tammy Sharp of Tulsa, Bobbie Morgan of Tulsa, Rosa Dake of Tulsa, and Gina Williams and husband, Joseph of Tulsa; a granddaughter who she raised, Terena Rios and husband Marty Sproles of Tulsa; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Sharp; brothers, Bobby Vanarsdel, Jerry Vanarsdel, and Raymond Vanarsdel; sister, Alice Moya; sister-in-law, Shirlene Vanarsdel; father, Robert Vanarsdel; and mother, Rosa Vernoy and husband Edward.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
