Kenneth was born January 22, 1935 in Sperry, OK to William and Opal (Williams) Domres. He passed away October 26, 2014 in Sperry, OK.
Kenneth was the youngest of five children. Those who knew and loved him called him Kenneth, Chuck, Dad, or Papa. In 1955, Kenneth graduated from Owasso High School and later went to work for Coy Heat Exchanger, now called Yuba Heat Transfer. He was a dedicated employee and retired from Yuba after 42 years of work. On May 16, 1957, Kenneth married the love of his life and his dear sweetheart, LeDona Ann Weathers. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Kenneth enjoyed coaching softball and basketball with his dear wife, and he especially loved coaching his three girls, Kim, Terri, and Susan. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family, as well as restoring old furniture and making people happy by selling it to them. Kenneth loved picking on people as we are sure Scott and Chris very vividly still remember the frog he put on their bed to wake them up in the mornings. Thanksgivings, Christmases, and Easters were always fun days at the Domres house. The Domres traditions included croquet, badminton, and board games around the dining room table with Papa always watching sports in his chair. Also, the kids can attest to the fact that he was always the first one to get out his pocket knife and open up your Christmas gifts. And who could think of Kenneth with some of his of sayings coming to mind? Some of these may sound familiar: “You’re as cute as a speckled pup; the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise; keep your head up and your powder dry; and you weren’t born in a barn” He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and thought much of his sons-in-law. He was the first one to a sporting game, graduation, or other event to support his beloved family. Even until the very end, he was saying “I love you” to his Sweetheart. Some of his last words to her were “Mom, give me some sugar; I love you; and you were the only woman I ever loved” They had a beautiful life together. Kenneth was a loyal man in everything he did, by how long he was married, to his years at Yuba, to even how long he would own a truck. He was a simple man but understood what it meant to work hard, stay with it, and cherish what you have. He had his family and he loved being surrounded by them more than anyone else. Thank you Kenneth, Dad, and Papa for teaching us all the many life lessons you have helped us learn. We look forward to seeing you again one day.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, LeDona Domres of Sperry; children, Kim Pittman and husband Bob of Tulsa, Terri Higgs and husband Glenn of Arlington, TX, and Susan Pressnall and husband Brent of Sperry; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.
