Family arranged memorial services for Kathy (Young) Emery, 67, of Wagoner, OK, were held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at First Community Church in Oktaha, OK.
Kathy was born October 12, 1956, in Tulsa, OK, to Carl James Young and Muriel Anne (Jacobson) Morrell. She passed away March 9, 2024, in Wagoner, OK.
Kathy had quite the servant’s heart. She helped anyone that needed help of any kind. She employed those that may not have been able to get a job elsewhere. Her heart of gold didn't stop at only humans, she was a big lover of animals. Every animal she had was taken in by her as strays. Even at the store she rescued a cat that ended up having a litter in her file cabinet and baby opossums, as well as giving treats to local neighborhood dogs that roamed. She had many hobbies, such as going to garage sales and antique stores. Her favorite antiques to collect were aluminum pieces of all kinds. Another hobby was crafting with her mom. They would set up booths at craft shows around the state to sell their creations. She loved plants and gardening. Kathy could grow anything indoors and outdoors because she had an incredible green thumb. She and her husband Billy loved going to casinos together; Kathy was quite the lucky person. She always had a love for music, not just certain music but all genres of music such as classic rock, country, Christian, and even some hip hop/pop. That love for music carried over into attending many concerts with her husband, sister, daughter, and best friend Karen. You could say that Kathy was quite the collector of many things whether it was antiques, quilts, cobalt glass items, records, plants, and many memorabilia items from her years. One thing she loved so much were her grandkids. You could not find a bigger supporter or fan of her grandchildren than her. She would attend any kind of activity or ceremony they had. One thing she started doing the past couple of years was to take a grandkid to go do whatever they wanted for their birthday. Eat what they requested, do whatever they wanted such as bowling, etc., as well as pick out one gift/toy. She loved her husband Billy so much and he spoiled her as well. They loved hopping in the car and just taking off to see where they would end up. Sometimes they would end up in another state just to eat lunch or stay the night unexpectedly. For the past couple years, they have been going on float trips in Missouri at the Current River every year on Fourth of July. Kathy's favorite place was outside on her porch. She loved sitting there listening to nature and enjoying the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Emery; daughter, Taylor Guthrie and husband, Chad; stepson, Nick Emery and wife, Sommer; grandchildren, Jill Emery, Justin Emery, Jaxon Guthrie, Abel Guthrie, and Rhilyn Guthrie; great-grandchild, Jasper Roper; mother, Muriel Morrell and husband, Al; sister, Leslie Stromberg and husband, Phil; niece, Alex Richmond; nephew, Jason Richmond; great-niece, Nora Richmond-Lewis; great-nephew, Elijah Richmond; and many other relatives and friends.
