Funeral services for Julius Dale Steelman, 74, of Owasso, OK, were held Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Chaplain Thomas Schwartz officiated. Honorary Casket bearers were Steve Steelman, Tony Steelman, Logan Carson, Alex Keys, Noah Sorrels, and Scott Atwell.
Dale was born July 24, 1949, in Spiro, OK, to George Steelman and Thelma Steelman. He passed away March 21, 2024, in Owasso, OK.
Dale attended Central High School in Tulsa. He married Margie Hoops on April 4, 1969, and they had three children. He was a jack-of-all trades kind of guy, working as a machinist, foreman, and roofer, in addition to landscaping and bailing hay, just to name a few. He loved hunting, fishing, and baseball. Above all that, Dale loved his family more than anything and was a friend to many.
He is survived by his son, Chad Steelman and wife, Becky; daughter, Jami Sorrels and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Lauren Carson and husband, Logan, Hilary Steelman, Jaycee Sorrels, and Noah Sorrels; great-grandchildren, Xandrea Diaz, Winter Diaz, and Bane Diaz; brothers, Melvin Steelman, and Mick Steelman; sisters, Josephine McLaughlin, Trish Reed and Wilma Ruth Pitkin; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Steelman; father, George Steelman; mother, Thelma Steelman; brothers, Jim Steelman, Coke Steelman, Jack Steelman; brothers-in-law, Joe Roberts, and Ray McLaughlin; nephews, Chuck Steelman, and Jimmy Sipe; and ex-wife, Margie Gabriel.
