J.P. Smithey

Funeral Services for J.P. Smithey, 83, of Sperry, were held Monday, May 10, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Doyle Ginn officiated and burial was in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK. Casket Bearers were Dusty Parks, Frank Smith, John Maggard, Chad Parks, Rex Brown and Terry Shrum. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

J.P. was born September 6, 1926 in Collinsville, OK to James Wright and Dicy Jane (Robbins) Smithey. He passed away May 6, 2010 in Skiatook, OK.

He retired from Yaffe Steel after his service there of 15 years. He was a welder, a mechanic and he loved to work on tractors. He loved to do many things with his hands.

He is survived by his close friends, Leon and Carol McQuay of Sperry, Dusty and Janie Parks of Sperry, Rex and Vonda Brown of Sperry, and Terry Shrum of Claremore; brother, Oddie Smithey of Adair; nephew, Jackie Monroe; and many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Smithey; sisters, Gracey Monroe, Jodi Cox, Mary Malon, and Bulla Hurst; and two baby brothers.
