Memorial services for Joseph Leon Harlow, of Collinsville, were held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Sperry Christian Church in Sperry, OK. Dr. Chet Veazey and Reverend Adam Stang officiated and a private family interment will be held at Tahlequah City Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. Honorary casket bearers were John Silkey, Kenneth Silkey, Wayne Silkey, Sam Silkey, Charles Tatum, Bobby Maxwell, Tommy Maxwell, Albert Silkey, Eddie Silkey, and John Harlow, Jr.
Joseph was born February 25, 1928 in Tulsa, OK to John and Lucy (Logsdon) Harlow. He passed away July 25, 2012 in Collinsville, OK at the age of 84.
Joseph grew up in Osage County and around the Gilcrease Museum area. At the age of 17, he joined the Army and was deployed to Korea. After serving his country, Joseph went to work for Fred James Ford Co. until he retired. He met and married his wife, Nelle and they raised their children in Jenks. Joseph was also a welder and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Bolen of Tulsa and Charlotte Bailey of Tulsa; 7 grandchildren; sister, Emma Silkey of Avant; brother, John Harlow of Turley; numerous nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelle Harlow; parents, John and Lucy Harlow; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.
