Mass of Christian Burial Services for Johnnie Franklin Coyle, 85, of Sperry, were held Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Skiatook, OK. The Father Benjamin Vima officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket Bearers were Craig Skaggs, Michael Rose, Austin Skaggs, Kevin Skaggs, Phillip Pridgen, and Kenny Crase. Honorary Casket Bearers were Porter DeWitt, Bryon Skaggs, Darin Skaggs, and Lenny Ficklin. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Johnnie was born February 20, 1928 in Sperry, OK to Fred and Pearl (Goad) Coyle. He passed away November 25, 2013 in Tulsa, OK.
Johnnie served his country in the United States Navy during World War II while stationed in Guam from March 5, 1946 to January 5, 1948. He married Betty Joe (Stephens) Coyle on March 20, 1950. They were happily married for 54 years and had five children together. He was a truck driver for Roadway for many years until his retirement. Johnnie loved mowing and having a garden that he enjoyed growing his homegrown tomatoes, cayenne peppers, and green onions in. He enjoyed riding his John Deere tractor and drinking coffee with his buddies. In 2005, Johnnie received the Old Timer’s Award at Sperry’s Old West Fest. Johnnie was very faithful to his church and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Skaggs and husband Craig of Sperry, Lisa Rose Pridgen and husband Phillip of Sperry, Dale Coyle of Eucha, and Brenda Ficklin and husband Lenford of Sperry; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan Coyle and Fred Coyle; sisters, Cora Maloy and Theresa Maloy; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joe Coyle; parents, Fred and Pearl Coyle; brothers, Earl Coyle, Delbert Coyle, Clarence Coyle, and Thomas Coyle; and sister, Margarette Campbell.
