Funeral services for Johnie Eli Hale, 83, of Owasso were June 26, 2008 in the Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Owasso. The Rev. Dr. Curtis Linton officiated and burial was in the Wann Cemetery at Oologah. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Sperry. Pallbearers were Chris Hale, Craig Hale, Jason Hale, John Walton, Paul Fowler and Randy Bramlett.
Johnie was born Nov. 4, 1924 in Theodosia, Mo., to Hillis H. and Capitola (Tabor) Hale. He died on June 23, 2008. He was a retired Freewill Baptist minister who was ordained in 1958. He pastored three churches in Oklahoma, five in Arkansas and two in California. He organized the church in Mountain Home, Ark., and also served under the State Mission Boards in Arkansas and California, to start the churches in Ash Flat, Ark., and Anderson, Calif. He preached revivals in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, To supplement his income, he worked as a tile setter, and had his own business in Mountain Home, Ark. He liked to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed traveling, and visiting family and friends. He often had a vegetable garden, and liked to make picante sauce. Johnie will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who are thankful for the Godly influence and love, he brought to their lives.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; two daughters, Mary Ann Washburn of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Brenda Walton of Owasso; five brothers, Eugene, Travis, Ernest, Charles and Melvin; four sisters, Albua, Nancy, Mary and Rosetta; grandchildren, Stacey Anderson, Lesley Griener, Chris Hale, Dana Fowler, Craig Hale, Jason Hale, Jennifer Norman, Rayetta Bramlett and John Walton; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one son, Ernie Hale; and two brothers, Eugene Hale and Charles Hale. Family and friends can sign the guestbook at johnsonfhsperry.com.
