John Bruce Workman

Memorial services for John Bruce Workman, 86, of Dewey, OK, were held Monday, October 2, 2023, at Ramona First Baptist Church in Ramona, OK. Phil Johnson officiated, and burial was in Ramona Cemetery in Ramona, OK.

John was born January 8, 1937, in Ramona, OK, to Jesse Everett Workman and Dolly Martha (Blevins) Workman. He passed away September 23, 2023, in Bartlesville, OK.

John was a jack of all trades; but most of all he was a brick layer for many years. In the 60’s, John became a machinist at Ramsey Winch until his retirement. Following his retirement, John redirected his talents toward the maintenance and repair of lawn mowers and various small engines. He found great satisfaction in a range of outdoor pursuits, including gardening, fishing, and hunting. One of his most fervent interests was coon hunting, which he enjoyed passionately alongside his loyal dogs. Chopping wood was another activity that brought him immense joy. In addition to his diverse skills and hobbies, John was a skilled farmer, raising chickens, hogs, and horses, showcasing his commitment to a multifaceted and fulfilling life.

He is survived by his children, Sharon Groomes and husband, Wes, Tracey Trustler, John Workman, Anna Sizemore and husband, Kenneth, Kay Garrett, and Marybelle Cox and husband, Victor; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; multiple great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Workman and Kieffer Workman; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Workman; grandchildren, Dawn Groomes, Vanessa Groomes, Dalton Tynes, and Baby Garrett; parents, Jess and Dolly Workman; sisters, Norma, Laurel and Barbara; and brothers, Jess, Kenneth, George, Rennie and Calvin.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
