John Oliver Silkey

Graveside memorial services for John Oliver Silkey, 70, of Tulsa, OK, were held Monday, December 7, 2020 at Barnsdall Cemetery in Barnsdall, OK. Pastor Claud T. Wisinger officiated.

John was born February 1, 1950 in Tulsa, OK, to Charles Albert and Emma Mae (Harlow) Silkey. He passed away November 22, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.

John was a song leader for the Bartlesville Tabernacle. He had a variety of jobs. He then settled down with his own business, Silko Construction. John roofed, remodeled, repaired, and built shelves, buildings, and many other things. No job was too little. John would work on anything to help people. He put all of himself into every job and took pride in doing jobs to the best of his ability. John loved to mow lawns for friends and family that needed help; He also tended the church lawn and flowers.  He loved to grow beautiful flowers and had a vegetable garden (we always compared crops). John loved going to karaoke and taking his boat out and going fishing. He loved taking his family on vacations and enjoyed traveling to scenic views and mountains. Most of all, he was the happiest when spending time with his family and friends and would turn into a kid with his grandchildren. John received joy from making others feel good. He loved to make you laugh and smile. He would comfort everyone with words of encouragement and a warm hug. John never made you feel like a burden; no matter what time of the day or night, he was there. His faith in God was most important to him and his love for God was shared through the life he lived and the love he gave to all his daughters to be shared with the world.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl Pacala, Iva Yeahquo, Paula White and husband, Shawn, and Lora Silkey; grandchildren, Michelle Pacala, Micheal Pacala, Rachel Yeahquo, Jared Yeahquo, Olivia Yeahquo, Johnathan Yeahquo, Theresa Golden, Ethel Golden, Ashley Golden, John Silkey, and Susan Silkey; great-grandchildren, Faith, Nadalee, Zechuriyah, Damien, Dryden, Jayden, Tiana, Abigail, Sikari, Elasha, Aiyana, Malachi, Anastasia, Elizabeth, and JasonPaul; mother, Emma Mae Silkey; brothers, Eddie Curtis Silkey, Albert Ervin Silkey, Kenneth Lee Silkey and wife, Ruth, Leon Wayne Silkey and wife, Sue, and Samuel Earl Silkey and wife, Linda; sisters, Lorene Avonne Thornhill and Emma Mae Keene; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Tiffany Golden, and James Pacala; great-granddaughter, Tiffany Lawrie; father, Charles Albert Silkey; brothers, Harold Albert Silkey, William Russell Silkey, Charles Stanley Silkey, Jack Wendel Silkey, Leonard Ray Silkey, James Maurice “Jimmy” Silkey and Jerry Silkey; and sister, Marguerite Deloris Dempster.
