Funeral services for John S. “Pop John” Scott, 88, of Tulsa, were held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phillip Johnson officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Jim Scott, Greg Skaggs, Clifford Poe, Aaron Scott, Casey Scott, Dan Scott, and Bruce Scott. Honorary casket bearer was Lee Scott.
John was born January 15, 1927 in Ketchum, OK to John Ashley Scott and Lula Mae Willhite. He passed away February 9, 2015 in Muskogee, OK.
John worked for Miser Asphalt Company in Owasso as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and dirt track racing.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry Scott and wife Sam of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Terry Scott and wife Sandy of Tulsa, and Johnny Scott and wife Darla of Tulsa; grandchildren, Jim Scott and wife Pam of Tulsa, Kimberly Scott-Skaggs and husband Greg of Bixby, Danny Scott and wife Kelly of Tulsa, Lee Scott and wife Janice of West Siloam Springs, Bruce Scott and wife Jamie of Sperry, Michael Scott and wife Tamara of FL, Weston Scott, Joe Scott in the military, and Machele Potter and husband Terry of West Siloam Springs; great-grandchildren, Alex Scott, Aaron Scott, Cheyanne Scott, Casey Scott, Sierra Skaggs, Sydney Skaggs, MeLynadee Perry, Emily Scott, Elly Scott, Layla Scott, Jerry Scott, Talon Hiatt, Kaylee Potter, Ellie Potter, and Jerome Scott; great-great-grandchildren, Annabelle Scott and Blaze Scott; sister, Norma Taylor of Siloam Springs, AR; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leta Faye Scott; companion, Lena Williams; mother, Lula Willhite; father, John Scott; brothers, Emery Scott, Everett Scott, and Claude Scott; sisters, Lucille Allen, Juanita Allen, and Blanche Scott.
