John Arthur Mericle

Funeral services for John Arthur Mericle, 78, of Owasso, OK were held Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phil Johnson officiated.

John was born September 10, 1945, in Miami, OK, to Arthur David “Art” Mericle and Mabel Evelyn (Huston) Mericle Warren. He passed away June 11, 2024, in Tulsa, OK.

John graduated from Miami High School and obtained his associate degree from NEO A&M, also in Miami. During high school, boxed, practiced Karate, and worked several jobs. He later went to work for Southwestern Bell from 1966-2000. was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. John loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, riding Harleys, going fishing and hunting, and as John would say “playing AT golf”. He also flew various planes at one point. John was an avid photographer and used to develop and print his own pictures.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mericle; children, John Wayne and wife, Debbie, Robert and wife, Yin, and Judy Hill and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Rachael, Robby, Julia, Allena, Jude, Ransom and Ashley; niece, Jeannie Lamb; nephew, Darryl Lamb; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Art Mericle; mother, Mabel Mericle-Warren; sister, Shirley Lamb; brother, David Mericle; and nephew, Donnie.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
