Funeral services for JoAnn Walker, 85, of Broken Arrow, OK, were held Monday, September 30, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phil Johnson officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Kyle Caruthers, Jared Caruthers, Justin Caruthers, Jordan Caruthers, Jesse Huchteman, and Josh Huchteman.
JoAnn was born August 30, 1939, in Tulsa, OK, to Jess Harrison Stanford and Oma Estel (Slater) Stanford. She passed away September 22, 2024, in Broken Arrow, OK.
JoAnn was the fourth of seven children born to Jess and Oma. She was a homemaker prior to the loss of her beloved husband, Henry. She was very involved in her children’s activities from grooming horses for a show, to making sure everyone arrived at their sporting activities on time, or helping with various 4H activities. JoAnn was also a seamstress, making dresses for her daughters’ proms and coronations. She began working at Telex after the loss of her husband and went on to retire from St. John Medical Center as a Collections Specialist. In her free time, JoAnn enjoyed crossword puzzles, storytelling to her children and grandchildren, playing pranks on her grandchildren, and going to casinos and concerts with her daughter, Cheryl, as she also loved music. JoAnn also enjoyed her time with her sisters, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Walker and Wenonah Caruthers; grandsons, Kyle Caruthers, and wife, Nicole, Jared Caruthers and wife, Andrea, Justin Caruthers and wife, Rebecca, Jordan Caruthers and wife, Meredith, Jesse Huchteman and wife, Whittney, Josh Huchteman and wife, Kelsey, Hunter Walker, Christopher Walker, Jill Walker and husband, David, Bobbie Jo Crawford and husband, DeShawn, and Michelle Walker; great-grandchildren, Chaska and Chayton Huchteman, Nicholas Celli, Skylar Walker, and Jacob Smith, Amelia Caruthers, Gwenyth Caruthers, and Jasmine Smith; great-great-grandchild, Ashton Wade; sisters, Frances Sloan, Patricia Strong, and Donna Tuxbury; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Walker; son, Phillip Walker; parents, Jess and Oma Stanford; brothers, J.L. Stanford, and J.W. Stanford; and sister, Freeda Thulin.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
