Funeral services for Jo Frances (Johnson) Houston, 83, of Hulbert, OK, were held Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Eric Fine officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were John Wallace, Scott Turek, Travis Freeman, Jacob Francis, Tony Hope and Kevin Conner. Honorary Casket bearers were Gary Tipton, and Denton Eller.
Jo was born January 1, 1937 in Tulsa, OK, to Frank Charles and Martha Chloe (Helschel) Johnson. She passed away December 14, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.
Jo, best known as “Mama Jo”, worked for First National Bank in Turley for many years, and Greenwoods Fishing Center in Skiatook. She loved her family, especially all of her grandkids. She loved to cook and was famous for her homemade noodles. Jo also loved to go fishing with Pops, and ride along on with him on his motorcycle. She was a member of the Guys and Gals Bass Club and was a Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts leader.
She is survived by her children, Rick Houston and wife, Lisa, Mark Houston and wife, Vicki, Butch Houston and wife, Deana, and JoLynn Hope and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Heather Dunaway and husband, Joe, Laura Mancuso, Brandon Houston and wife, Casey, Brittney Williams and husband, Sean, Amanda Freeman and husband, Travis, Kevin Conner and wife, Randi, Joey Crews and wife, Amber, Phillip Crews and wife, Jami, Leea Houston, Megan Cardwell and husband, Thad, Cory Hope, Adam Rowley, Haley Brice and husband, Tim, Britton Blain and husband, Michael, and Devon King; 25 great-grandchildren; niece, Ronda Reed and husband, Jeff; numerous other step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Pops” Houston; parents, Frank and Martha Johnson; sister, Gayle Nuckolls; and nephew, Robert Nuckolls.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
