J. L. Mills

Graveside services for J. L. Mills, 79, of Sand Springs, were held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, OK. Pastor Robert Haling officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Terry Mills, Darren Mills, Stephen Smart, Kevin Smart, and Randy Mills.

J. L. was born October 6, 1938 in McAlester, OK to James Lawton and Ruth Ann (Williams) Mills. He passed away August 27, 2018 in Tulsa, OK.

J. L. was a co-owner of Sand Springs Awards. He was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sand Springs. He was also a talented musician, who loved OU football. J. L. also enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Terry Mills and wife Kelly; and Darren Mills; daughter, Danna Smart and husband Stephen; grandchildren, Kevin Smart and wife Alexandria, Kimberly Smart, and Jaymie Mills; great-grandson, Elisha Smart; sister, Emma Gene Broughton; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Mills; brother, R.G. Mills; and parents, James and Ruth Mills.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
