Jerry Ray Selvidge

Memorial services for Jerry Ray Selvidge, 83, of Sperry, OK, were held Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Elder Charles Rowden officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Honorary Casket bearers were James Briggs, Charlie Rowden, James Barlow, Jimmy Linduff, Bill Philpott, Stanley Noonkester, Jerry Carpenter, Floyd Johnson, Jerry Lamar Selvidge, Brett Selvidge, Bart Selvidge, Roger Dunn, Ron Dunn, Randy Dunn, Randell Dunn, Jenny Dunn, Micah Christianson, Matt Dunn, Traci Dunn, Mason Dunn, Jaxon Dunn, and Amanda Dunn.

Jerry was born June 12, 1939, at home in Sperry, OK, to Alfred Etsel Selvidge and Vivian Nadine (Embrey) Selvidge. He passed away February 12, 2023, in Sperry, OK about a block from where he was born.

Jerry graduated from Sperry High School in 1957. He joined and served in the United States Air Force. He was a Tool and Die Maker his whole working career, retiring from Nordam after 25 years with the company. He served on the Sperry Town Board of Trustees beginning April 15, 1991. He became Mayor in November of that year and served in that capacity until he resigned in March of 1993. Jerry enjoyed traveling the country “antiquing”, looking for that next great find. He was a master of detail and precision, and applied these in one of his passions, woodworking.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Royer; sons, Ron Dunn and wife, Cindy, Randy Dunn and wife, Patty, Roger Dunn and wife, Kay, Jerry Lamar Selvidge and wife, Phyllis, Brett Selvidge and wife, Julie, and Bart Selvidge and wife, Lisa; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Selvidge; parents, Edsel and Vivian Selvidge sister, Rena Carter; and brothers, Jim Selvidge, and Jack Selvidge.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
