Jean Brown

Funeral Services for Lucy Jean (Harrell) Brown, 81, of Olathe, KS, were held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Andy Anquoe and Reverend Hugh D. Hardie officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket Bearers were Nicholas Brown, T.J. Prentice, Jackson Brown, Rick Lynn, Brian Cummings, and Garrett Brown. Honorary Casket Bearers were Kevin Brown, Jeff Bailey, and Larry Brown. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Jean was born June 30, 1933 in Earle, AR to Terry Johnson Harrell and Clara Catherine (Fletcher) Bevis. She passed away August 9, 2014 in Olathe, KS.

Jean was a wonderful nurse, public schools cook, CareStaf bookkeeper, and homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Rae Brown of Olathe, KS; children, John Swan of Tupelo, MS, Cathy Brown and Sheryl Westad of Reno, NV, Don Brown and wife Karen of Olathe, KS, and Dennis Brown and wife Peggy of Overland Park, KS.; in-laws, Melvin Brown, Judy Brown, Ben Brown, Jeanne Brown, Betty Prentice, and Opal Hayman; grandchildren, Sheri, Sean, Stephanie, Nicholas, Kate, Jackson, and Rylee; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Abigail, Eliza, Christian, Kailey, and Paul; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Bevis; foster parents, Lillian Bevis, and Jack and Edith Prentice; foster brothers, Jack Prentice and Floyd Hayman.
