Funeral services for J.D. Lenard, of Wagoner, were held Friday, June 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Pastor Leon Schneider and Reverend Andy Anquoe officiated and burial was in Charley Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Doug Tiblow, Duane Tiblow, Sam Tiblow, Jeff Steven, Rock Lenard, and Jimi Stevens. Honorary casket bearers were George M. Hedrick CW3 USA (Ret.), Bradley D. Gambill MG USA (Ret.), Thomas P. Mancino BG USA (Ret.), Jim Stevens SFC USA (Ret.), and Bob Riggs.
J.D. was born June 14, 1941 in Coweta, OK to Doc and Maggie (Vanhoy) Lenard. He passed away June 14, 2011 in Wagoner, OK at the age of 70 years.
J.D. proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired from the Army Reserves. He was a Master Mason and was the Fire Chief at Toppers Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, going fishing, and wood working. J.D. loved spending time playing with his grandchildren and fellowshipping with family and friends. He always looked forward to family reunions and military reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Lenard of the home; daughters, Debra Walker and husband Johnny, and Tammy Lenard; son, Shawn Lenard and wife Christy; grandchildren, Darren Walker, Tasha Walker, Juliann Walker, Bradley Spaulding, Dakota Lenard, Steven Lenard, and Ruby Lenard; great-grandchildren, Michael Green and Daniel Green; sister, Sue Beard; brothers, Bill Lenard, Don Lenard, and Larry Lenard; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lenard; and parents, Doc and Maggie Lenard; sisters, Wanda Tattershaw and Eula Mae Bevard; and brother, Ross Lenard.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
