Funeral services for James William Morgan, of Kansas, OK, were held Tuesday March 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Kansas, OK. Brother Terry Wofford officiated and burial was in Kansas Cemetery in Kansas, OK. Casket bearers were Joey Hayworth, Jamie Granderson, Jamie English, Frankie Hammons, Austin Combs, and Harold Merrell. Honorary casket bearers were Jeff Pruitt, Nick Morgan, DaShaun Smith, Darold Merrell, and Harold Merrell.
James was born May 8, 1969 in Siloam Springs, AR to James A. Morgan and Sharin K. (Jones) Hopkins. He passed away March 9, 2012 at the age of 42.
He worked as a carpenter. James was born in Siloam Springs, AR, although his family moved around a lot, he was raised in North West Arkansas and Tulsa area. He worked odds and ends jobs but his passion was carpentry. James was never married but found his love and soul mate Amy Granderson in the mid 1990’s. James loved working with his hands and always tinkering and fixing things. He enjoyed all kinds of woodworking, car mechanics, and glass etching. He enjoyed playing with his nieces, nephews and spending time and riding horses with his daughter Destiny along with so much more.
He is survived by his soul mate, Amy Granderson; daughter, Destiny Jade Morgan of West Siloam Springs, OK; mother, Sharin Hopkins of Kansas, OK; father, James A. Morgan of Broken Arrow; brother, Bryon Hunter of Rogers, AR; sisters, Sherry Merrell of Wagoner, Sheila Smith of Tulsa, Melissa Morgan of Wagoner, Lisa Pruitt of Kansas, OK; nieces, Brittany Woods, Cassie Gardner, Cierra Pruitt; nephews, Austin Combs, Harold Merrell, Dannie Merrell, Nick Morgan, DaShaun Smith; great nephew, Javien Woods, Ryker Combs; great nieces, Jailynn Woods; step-mother, Susie Morgan; step sister, Kelli Cochran; step-nieces and nephews, Samantha, Travis, Dakota, and Aryanna Cochran; brother-in-law, Darold Merrell, Don Abshier and many other cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his granparents, Albert and Matilda “Tilly” Jones, James and Pauline Morgan; aunts, Judy Vandever, Mary Lou Morgan; uncles, Alva Jones and Gene Morgan.
