Funeral Services for James Marvin Massey, Sr., 76, of Sperry, were held July 20, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Adam Stang officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket Bearers were Royal Clark, Joseph Clark, Larry Rupe, Nathan Cain, Ricky Walker, and Brian Cain. Honorary casket bearers were James Massey, III, Emily Massey, Revyn Massey, Andre Massey, Eric Massey, and Erin Massey.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

James was born June 29, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Elmer Marvin and Freda (Heinz) Massey. He passed away July 15, 2010 in Skiatook, OK.

James spent his early years in and around Waynesville, MO. He left Missouri in 1958 on a road trip to CA and along the way made a stop in Drumright, OK to visit his aunt. There, he met and married Bonnie McDaniel; who he was married to for 52 years. James retired from American Airlines after 35 years of service and worked as a mechanic on the side with a passion for racing and race cars. Later in life, he loved nothing more than spending quality time with his family; especially his grandchildren who he adored. He was a loving husband, father and pepa/grandpa and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Massey; daughter, Debora Cain and husband Ricky; sons, Jim Massey & wife Darlene, David Massey & wife Michelle, and Ronny Massey & wife Tina; grandchildren, Kenya Massey, Anthony Cain, Autumn Latham, Ricky Walker II, Nathan Cain, Emily Massey, James Massey, III and Revyn Massey, 7 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Freda Massey; brothers, Chris Massey, Ed Manus and Udell Manus; and daughter, Marilyn Massey.
