James Thomas Latty

Funeral services for James Thomas Latty, 77, of Skiatook, were held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Pastor Rick Harvey officiated and burial was in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket bearers were David Brackett, Robert Denney,Robert Schawo, Steven Latty, William Spurgeon and Ray Henry. Honorary casket bearers were Evan Latty, Rick Latty. Tyler Schawo and Bryce Latty.

James was born November 30, 1939 in Tahlequah, OK to Starling James and Betty Jane (Brackett) Latty. He passed away March 21, 2017 in Tulsa, OK.

James spent six years in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968. He was married to Alma Sue (Gullett) Latty for 54 years and they were blessed with three sons. James worked for Lee C. Moore as a sandblaster and tool shed manager from 1964-1987. The company then moved to PA. James then began working at Gear Products in 1989 and worked there until his retirement in 2004. He took care of his ailing wife until she passed away in 2015. James loved fishing, watching sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, James L. Latty and wife Margie of Skiatook, Mike Latty and wife Sherri of Tulsa and Jerry Latty and wife Cindy of Skiatook; grandchildren, Kelli Schawo and husband Robert of Bixby, Steven Latty and wife Tiffany of Bixby, Brooke Latty of Sapulpa, Rebecca Latty, Mikayla Latty and Evan Latty all of Skiatook; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Latty and wife Wanda of Skiatook; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; longtime friend, Tressa Osborn; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Sue Latty; parents, Starling and Betty Latty; brother, Bobby Latty; sister, Betty Sue Denney; nephew, Ronnie Latty; and his grandparents.
