Horace Joe McElroy

Funeral services for Horace Joe McElroy, 85, of Sperry, OK, were held Monday, February 24, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Mr. Phillip Johnson officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Phillip McElroy, Brian McElroy, Steven McElroy, Mark McElroy, Teddy McElroy, Brent Barnes, Tyler Kime, Brad Barnes, and Raymond Williams.

Joe was born August 1, 1934 in St. Joe, AR to Horace Evans and Irene (Webb) McElroy. He passed away February 18, 2020 in Wagoner, OK.

Joe married Juanita Ann (Chadwick) McElroy on July 7, 1954 and they spent almost 68 years together before her passing in 2018. Joe and Juanita really loved bluegrass music and went to any bluegrass event. Joe even had shows at his farm. Joe enjoyed fishing, and just being outdoors, whether it be fishing, or walking around his land. He also enjoyed talking and playing cards.

He is survived by his brothers, Fred McElroy and wife, Virginia of Wagoner, Zeb McElroy and wife, Grace of Skiatook, Gene McElroy of Broken Arrow, and Ted McElroy of Fort Gibson; sisters, Juanita Henson and husband, Clayton of Neosho, MO, and Darlene Moore and husband, John of Owasso; niece, Bonita Williams and husband, Raymond of Glenpool; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita McElroy; brothers, Richard McElroy, Jesse McElroy, Andy McElroy and Jim McElroy; sisters, Mae Steen and Sandra Parnell; and parents, Horace and Irene McElroy.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
