Funeral Services for Herman Winston Bland, 71, of Pawhuska, were held Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Osage Indian Baptist Church in Pawhuska, OK. The Reverends Bill and Mary Fitzer officiated and a private family interment followed. Casket Bearers were Laban Miles, Sr., Matthew King, Jack Miles, Sr., Carl Clay, Martin Amos Miles, and Scott Kohnle. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Herman was born September 25, 1942 in Henryetta, OK to Hester Herman and Valla Cleta (Henson) Bland. He passed away May 15, 2014 in Tulsa, OK.
Herman married Marsha Ann Miles on April 13, 1971. He was a teacher in both Kansas and Oklahoma for 30 years, after attending college in Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. Herman’s love of God and his family were his reasons for living.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Bland; children, Ronald Herman Bland, Dee Anna Clay and husband Carl, Christopher Miles Bland and wife Kristie, Rhonda Ann Kohnle and husband Scott, and Angela Trese King and husband Matthew; grandchildren, Allen Clay, Jessica Clay, Cameron Clay, Carly Clay, Electra, Cordale, Israel Kohnle, Isaiah Kohnle, Trinity Kohnle, and Ian Kohnle; step-mother, Aleta Bland; sister, Lillie Ruth Wilson and husband Kenneth; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hester Bland; mother, Valla Cleta Bland; sister, Virginia Rose Fitzer, and grandson, Andrew Miles Bland.
