Funeral services for Herbert Allen “Herb” Gragg, of Turley, were held Friday, January 27, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Andy Anquoe officiated and burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.
Herbert was born October 8, 1929 in Vian, OK to Joseph Eli and Susan Terrill (Calcote) Gragg. He passed away January 23, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 82.
Herbert liked to fish, church groups went all summer long. If he went on a fishing trip, he always made sure that he was back for church. Herbert worked for and retired from Flint Steel. He was very faithful, loyal, and dedicated. Herbert was with one woman all of his life. Jane rode up on a motorcycle and he immediately knew that she was who he was going to marry one day, and they were married in 1949. Jane went into a coma in May of 2005, and Herbert was by her side the whole time up until she woke up in 2006. He called his girls every night. Herbert was a Deacon of his church and wanted to be a preacher. He was member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Lakeview Baptist Church, Golden Hills Baptist Church, Valley View Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church of Sperry
He is survived by his daughters, Kathey Gragg, and Sue Gragg; grandson, Joseph A. Gragg, and Nissa Svanter, and daughter, Kayla Svanter; sister, Bonnie McCullough; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Susan Gragg, and sisters, Nora Garner, Gladys Hougans, and Berniece Fyffe.
