Funeral Services for Helen Minnie (Talburt) Claxton, 80, of Skiatook, were held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. The Reverend William Mason officiated and burial was in the Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket Bearers were Joe Johnson, Wayne Claxton, James Johnson, Jamie Wallace, James Perkins, and David Canady. Honorary Casket Bearers were. Richard Elledge, Jim Almy, Darrin Varnell, Gus Talburt, Jay Yaws, and Kenneth Canady. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Helen was born January 18, 1933 in Tulsa, OK to Curtis E. and Opal May (Fulbright) Talburt. She passed away August 23, 2013 in Skiatook, OK.

Helen was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa and worked there for many years. She was a devoted Christian who enjoyed singing and listening to gospel songs. Her favorite group was The Chuck Wagon Gang. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always there for her family with prayers and support. Helen always had time to help everyone. She was a great listener, never criticized, and was always supportive. Helen was a great cook, and always knew when to have dinner ready. She was the happiest when she was feeding everyone. Helen loved to read and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Agnew of Terlton, Elizabeth Claxton of Collinsville, and William Claxton of Skiatook; grandchildren, Chastity Varnell of Terlton, Johnathon Claxton, Rebecca Claxton, and Gabriel Claxton all of Clendenin, WV; great-grandchildren, Lauren LaFever, Corbin Varnell, and Colt Varnell all of Terlton, and Cameron Claxton of Clendenin, WV; sisters, Betty Groat of Wagoner, and Joyce Yaws of Sand Springs; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Claxton; and parents, Curtis and Opal Talburt.
