Funeral services for Helen Colleen Butts, 79, of Joplin, MO (formerly of Turley,) were held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO. Graveside services followed at Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK with Vernon Butts officiating.
Helen was born August 3, 1931 in Coffeyville, KS to James Franklin and Opal Marie (Armstrong) Landrun. She passed away June5, 2011 in Joplin, MO.
Helen lived in Tulsa for many years where she worked at Warehouse Market as an office manager. She moved to Joplin in 1968 and worked at Wilson’s Grocery Store for many years. Helen was also the owner and operator of a daycare in her home on North Moffett in Joplin for many years.
She is survived by her sons, Vernon Butts and wife Debbie of Mannford, and Stephen Butts and wife Jacque of Mannford; daughter, Marcy Hooker and husband Stuart of Joplin, MO; step-daughter, Donna Kaffenbarger of Brownsville, TX; grandchildren, Carl, Michelle, Zachary, Carley, Stevi, Donny Wayne, John, and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Landrun of Joplin; sisters, Pat Gullett of Maxville, KS and Beverly Sweeden of Pawhuska; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Butts; son, Rick Butts; grandson, James Butts; brothers, Donald and Danny, and a sister, Joyce.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
