Funeral services for Harvey Lewis Hawkins, 81, of Ramona, OK, were held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Joyce Johnson Ministries in Owasso, OK. Pastor Mike Harris, Charlie Watashe, Pastor Ronnie Thompson, Pastor Tom Jones, Pastor Jerry Moore, and Pastor Kent Jensen officiated, and burial was in Ramona Cemetery in Ramona, OK. Casket bearers were Donnie Cook, Charlie Watashe, Gary Winton, Dexter Bolen, Scott McAlister, and Tracey Stoughton. Honorary Casket bearers were Mike Covington, Neil Ellis, Jessie Boyd, Adam Sewards, Carl Venable, Carl Davis, John Jeffries, Pete Williams, Pete Karlak, and Harvey’s Friday Night Family.
Harvey was born November 7, 1941, in Oglesby, OK, to Lewis Hawkins and Opal Hawkins. He passed away December 25, 2022, in Ramona, OK.
Throughout his life, Harvey engaged in several occupations, but he found great fulfillment in commercial building construction and remodeling. He was self-employed as the owner of J&H Construction for many years. Harvey loved to fish, and he participated in many bass tournaments throughout the years. As an outdoorsman, Harvey raised cattle and bailed lots of hay. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited. Harvey loved to attend car races. His favorite date night was Monday night for a trip to Skiatook Tastee Freez and onto Richard's Auction for an evening of fun.
Harvey married Joyce Johnson on September 24th, 2014, in Nashville, Tennessee by special friend, Donnie Sumner. He became a vital part of the Joyce Johnson Ministry touching many lives through radio, television, books, and gospel music. He loved people and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. His Friday night music family was an encouragement to him.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Johnson of the home; grandchildren, Jolene Powell and husband, Jason, and Tarah Gailey and husband, Mitch; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Powell, Ethan Gailey and Carson Gailey; brother, Jim Hawkins; sisters, Phyllis Hawkins, and Patty Thompson; daughter-in-law; Melinda; Joyce’s son, Rick Gaut and family; his faithful pup, Brickle; and many other relatives and friends and his Friday night family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Glen; his parents, Lewis and Opal Hawkins; and brother, Forrest.
