Funeral services for George Clifford Washington, 82, of Seminole, OK, were held Monday, April 22, 2024, at the Bird Creek Home in Sperry, OK. Chiefy Tiger and Mike Washington officiated, and burial was in Charley Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Jayson Burr, Slade Washington, Billy Brent Washington, Hunter Washington, Christian Broderson, and Michael Spencer.

George was born October 3, 1941, in Sperry, OK, to Lewis Washington and Cordelia (Tyner) McKee. He passed away April 18, 2024, in Tulsa, OK.

George graduated from the Chilocco Indian School. George became a welder and all-around entrepreneur in the home construction industry. In his younger years, he spent time as part of the American Indian Movement. He was an educator of his Shawnee heritage and spoke the Shawnee language. George spent over 50 years married to his wife, Barbara and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and taught them the Shawnee ways and passed down many, many, stories.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Washington; children, Georgia Washington and husband, Jayson Burr, Mike Washington and wife, Amber Sullivan, and Shaun Washington and wife, Holly; Luke Washington and wife, Gwen, Ella Jackson and husband, James, Chris Washington, Curtis Wood and wife, Jenny, and Rodney Washington; over 50 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons, “his boy”, Jacob Washington and Johnny Ray Wood; mother, Cordelia McKee; father, Lewis Washington; 3 brothers; 8 sisters, and many other beloved family members.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
