The Reverend Jack Lyons officiated and burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Stanley was born February 26, 1926 in Gober, TX to Vernon Cantrell and Mary Annie (Champion) Tollison. He passed away February 1, 2009 in Stillwater, OK.
Stanley was a part of generation that experienced this country's hardships as a result of the depression, in the 1930's until World War II. Stanley as he was known to family members entered the US Army in 1944 where he served in the European Theater. He spoke of one story in which he was driving the FOG of one morning when his small unit crashed into a German Truck carrying German Troops. Although he was injured from the wreck, he held the Germans prisoner with his US 45 pistol until help arrived, unknown to them, they learned that the war was over. Today there are family members who have the German Officer's 32 caliber pistol and sword taken during the capture. In 1947, he married Mary Margaret Miller. Resulting from that union were four children. Later he would enter the Civil Service, working at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. He retired in August 1983as an Industrial Aircraft Instruments Over-haul and Repair Technician, with 32 years of federal service. Shortly after retirement, he enjoyed raising chickens, hogs, and feeding his horse when living in Bristow. He moved back to Tulsa where he enjoyed being around his sisters playing cards, feeding the birds and squirrels, playing his guitar and most of all......he loved his dogs. Stanley also looked forward to the yearly Tollison family reunion for a good game of dominoes. He enjoyed the 42 tournaments and horse shoe matches.
