Funeral services for Freeda Joyce Thulin, 74, of Collinsville, were held Friday, March 18, 2011 at Sperry United Pentecostal Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Linda McGowen officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Joseph Sanders, Johnny Thulin, Jr., Brad Cherry, Kevin Thulin, C.J. Cordrey, and Donald French. Honorary casket bearers were Colton Thulin, Austin Thulin, and Matthew Mitchell.
Freeda was born October 1, 1936 in Tulsa, OK to Jess Harrison and Oma Estel (Slater) Stanford. She passed away March 15, 2011 in Tulsa, OK.
Freeda was a homemaker. She enjoyed being outside taking care of the flowers and gardening. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Freeda liked helping with homework and doing crafts of any kind. She loved every minute of time she spent with her husband and best friend, Monroe. She liked to bird watch and to take her short road trips. Freeda enjoyed taking care of the calves and she loved to read her Bible. She was an active member of Faith Temple Jesus Name Church in Claremore. She loved going to church and would start worrying far ahead of time whether or not she would get to go.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Monroe Thulin of the home; children, Vicki Cherry and husband Al of Claremore, Janice (Mitchell) Cassidy of SD, Johnny Thulin and wife Donna of Collinsville, Robert Thulin and wife Lisa of Owasso, Stacy Sanders and husband Jim D. of Inola, OK; grandchildren, Brad Cherry, Heather (Cherry) Cordrey, Dalene (Mitchell) Blaylock, Maleia (Mitchell) Hanna, Matthew Mitchell, Johnny Thulin, Jr., Kevin Thulin, Megan Thulin, Austin Thulin, Colton Thulin, Joseph Sanders, and Makayla Sanders; great-grandchildren, Courtland, Hunter, Skyland, Wynter, Kev, Kimball, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Leia, Chloe, Austin, Morgan, Emily, and Levi; sisters, Frances Sloan, JoAnn Emery, Patricia Strong, Donna Tuxbury, J.L. Stanford; several nieces, nephews, her church family, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Estel “Stella” Thulin; grandson, Jeremy Thulin; parents, Jess and Oma Stanford; and brother, J.W. Stanford.
