Freda Irene (Richards) Fruechting

Private graveside services for Freda Irene (Richards) Fruechting, 83, of Owasso, OK, were held Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Pastor Brenan Fulton officiated, and burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.

Freda was born July 4, 1940, in Owasso, OK, to Fred Richards and Mary Ann (Courtney) Richards. She passed away December 18, 2023, in Tulsa, OK.

Freda was raised and educated in Owasso and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1958. She was a member of the Owasso 4-H, winning Grand Champion of the Tulsa State Fair in 1954. Freda was married to Gerald “Jerry” Fruechting on January 25, 1958, in Owasso at the home of her parents, which was known by many as the “red rock house.” Together, she and Jerry ran a dairy farm for many years. She also worked at First Bank in Catoosa for many years. Freda was a kind and generous soul who was loved by all who knew her. She deeply loved her family and friends well. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She put her faith in Christ from an early age.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Fruechting; son, Steven Kent Fruechting and Janet Phelps; daughter, Karen Rofkahr and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Kentra Best and husband, Jason, Ryan Morgans and wife, Jennifer, Kara Davis and husband, Wes, Sarah Wehner and husband, Chris, and Chelsey Fulton and husband, Brenan; great-grandchildren, Kimberlee, Kaibree, Kolton, Kenzee, Jillian, Landon, Major, Makinley, Molly, Addison, Preston, Hadleigh, Braxton, Landry, Reese, Wren, Brock, and Knox; great-great-grandchildren, Dyxee and Louden, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stephanie (Rofkahr) Dees; parents, Fred and Mary Ann Richards; and brother, Ed Richards, and many other family and friends.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
