Funeral services for Freda Darlene Patten, of Tulsa, were held Friday, July 22, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Vicki Chance and Reverend Roger Lane officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Robert Gaddy, Jr., Jay Johnson, Chris Darby, Jeffrey Chance, Steve Thelander, Ronnie Lee Roberts. Honorary casket bearers were Nathan Helm, and Kent Powers.
Freda was born December 22, 1931 in Sperry, OK to Fred and Anna (Tiblow) Gaddy. She passed away July 18, 2011 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 79.
A long time employee of First National Bank of Turley, Freda was a familiar face to local residents. Freda, (Darlene to her family) was a woman of simple pleasures. She gardened, fished, and played bingo with the zest of a true competitor. Freda will be remembered for her sense of humor, her tender heart, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Gale Thomas, of Tulsa, step-children, Rebecca Lawton, Linda Singletary, and Rick Patten; step-grandchildren, William A. Lawton, Laurie Burke, Emily Burke, Brian Burke; sister, Carol Chance; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A. Patten; sisters, Lorene Younger, Louise Simmons, and Virginia “Jane” Guice; brothers, Charles R. “Tom” Gaddy, and Robert “Buck” Gaddy.
