Fred was born May 8, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to Kenneth Fred and Mary Louise (Shaw) Clark. He passed away January 19, 2016 in Sperry, OK.
Fred was an independent truck driver. He drove over the road for probably 50 years and was fortunate to have been in good enough health to be able to drive until he was 72 or 73 years old. Giving up his Commercial Driver’s License because of his failing health was probably one of the hardest things he had to do. He told Kathy that he didn’t want to give it up in case he got better and he’d need it to get back out on the road. Kathy realized at that point, that driving a truck wasn’t what he did for a living, it was who he was. When Fred wasn’t on the road, one of the things he liked to do was to take his family to Lake Tenkiller and spend the weekends boating and fishing. He also liked going hunting. Fred was an avid reader and his favorites were westerns by Louis L’Amour. Family was very important to Fred; even though he needed to be out there on the road to support his family he never missed any holiday dinners or birthdays. Kathy can remember hearing his truck coming down the road and being so excited to see him coming home. Larry and Kathy aren’t sure who enjoyed those homecomings more, Fred or them. They would all line up outside waiting for him to get the truck parked and for him to get out of it.
He is survived by his son, Larry Clark and wife Lee of Sperry; daughter, Kathy Samson and husband Don of Sperry; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Clark and wife Linda of Suisun, CA and Johnny Clark and wife Pam of Sperry; multiple nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mary Clark; wife, Wilma Clark; and sons, Donald Clark and Charles Clark.
