Franklin Roosevelt Short, 90, of Collinsville, OK, was born November 11, 1934, in Sherman, Texas, to Samuel Franklin Short and Lillie Belle (Phillips) Reed. He passed away November 25, 2024, in Muskogee, OK.
Frank dedicated his life to serving his country, family, and community. A proud veteran, he served in the Army National Guard as an Adjutant General with the 45th Infantry Division and the U.S. Army. After his military service, Frank worked as a skilled sheet metal worker in Texas from 1951 to 1970. In 1970, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he established his own HVAC company, which he successfully operated until his retirement in 2011. Frank shared 57 wonderful years with the love of his life, Lavern, until her passing in 2019. Together, they loved traveling and making memories with his love. When Frank wasn’t working, he enjoyed crafting beautiful pieces through stained glass, woodworking, and leatherwork. He was also an avid bowler and took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. For over 50 years, Frank was a devoted member of Collinsville United Methodist Church, later Meadowcreek United Methodist Church, where he formed lasting friendships and strengthened his faith.
He is survived by his son, Gary and Dana Short of Tulsa; grandchildren, Brad and Amanda Short of Stockton, IL, Caitin and Ricky Roberts of Yukon, Taylor Holman of Tulsa, and Kali Holman of Collinsville; great-grandchildren, Faith and Hope Short of Noble, Paxton Romere of Collinsville, and Aiden and Avery Roberts of Yukon; brother, Jim and Lavonia Short of Collinsville; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Short; son, Frank Short, Jr., grandson, Aaron Short; parents, Samuel Short and Lillie Reed; 1 brother; and 4 sisters.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
