Funeral services for Franklin D “Bud” Gunter, of Sperry, were held January 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, Oklahoma. Reverend Andy Anquoe officiated and the burial was in Carnegie Cemetery in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Casket bearers were Jess Cole, Allen Carter, Billy Philpott, Tommy Salisbury, Billy Carter, Derrick Jackson, Bullard, Clarence Dutton, Kenny McQuay, Virgil Carter, Gary Robbins, Ralph Campbell, Rich Gray, and Ken Childers.
Bud was born November 9, 1940 in Alfalfa, OK to Carroll and Flora E. (Powers) Gunter. He passed away January 16, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72.
Bud worked as a police officer, business owner, contractor, and his favorite was farming. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite times were spent with his grandkids and napping.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Sue Gunter of the home; sons, Kevin Gunter and wife Holly of Uvalde, TX, Chris Gillman of Skiatook, Randy Pyburn of New York, NY, and Duane Gunter and wife Kerry of Chelsea, OK; mother, Flora Gunter of Carnegie, OK; brother, Jimmy Gunter and wife Angie of Ft. Cobb, OK; sisters, Carolyn Wilburn of Eakly, OK, and Reta Coats and husband Dewey of Carnegie, OK; sister-in-law, Phyllis Frost of Sperry; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Gunter, sisters, Joyce Cowling and Ann Murphy; brothers-in-law, Orbie Wilburn and Butch Murphy; and great-nephew, Orbie Wilburn.
