Funeral services for Flo Lavon (Diaz) Fortney, 76, of Pawhuska, OK, were held Friday, November 15, 2024, at Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phil Johnson officiated, and burial was in Nelagoney Cemetery in Nelagoney, OK. Casket bearers were John Lee, Austin Lee, Jarrett Lee, Tyson Lee, Dalton Daugherty, and Brennen Stevens. Honorary Casket bearers were Colten, Olivia, Trysten, Dayton, Sophia, Treyton, Austin, Rylan, Kenzie, and Maleeya.
Flo was born July 21, 1948, in Pawhuska, OK, to John Ralph Diaz and Mary Louise (Cates) Diaz. She passed away November 09, 2024, in Pawhuska, OK.
Flo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was united in marriage to Jacob Fortney on May 16, 1969, sharing 55 wonderful years filled with love and memories. Flo loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent together, whether gathered around for backyard cookouts, enjoying time outdoors, or camping under the stars. Her dog, Dancer, was her constant companion and the light of her life. Flo had a heart of gold and a warmth that embraced everyone just as they were. Her kindness, acceptance, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Fortney; daughters, Esther Layland of Pawhuska, Stacey Burns and husband, Mark of Byers, TX, Lora Lee of Richmond, KS, and Lydia Fortney of Bartlesville; son, David Daugherty of Bartlesville; grandchildren, Megan Erives of KS, Courtney Satterfield of TX, Lauren Lee of OK, Amber and husband, Mark of Romero, KS, Lacey Black and husband, Casey of OK, Robert Erives of KS, Dalton Daugherty of OK, Austin Lee, of KS, Jarrett Lee of KS, and Tyson Lee of KS, Ezra Church of KS; 34 great-grandchildren; ex son-in-law, John Lee of Richmond, KS; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Diaz; sisters, Billie, Tootie, and Anita; brothers, Arthur, Johnny, Henry, Jessie, Joseph, and Jasper; granddaughter, Destiny Daugherty (2014); grandson, Trevor Fortney (2023); and great-grandson, Destin Fortney.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
