Funeral services for E. Ercile “Memaw” (Turnbull) Thomas, of Owasso, were held Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Adam Stang officiated and burial was in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Honorary casket bearers were Larry Thomas, Jim Turnbull, Preston Thomas, Gary Thomas, Johnny Turnbull, and Brad Turnbull.
Ercile was born November 6, 1929 in Earlsboro, OK to Emmert and Ruby Virginia (Walker) Turnbull. She passed away October 19, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 82.
Ercile retired from the First Bank of Owasso after 30 years of dedicated service as the secretary to the President. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star of OK, and the Cherokee Nation. Ercile enjoyed working in the garden, and cooking; especially for family get-togethers and holidays. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Thomas and wife Denise of Owasso, and Gary Thomas and Sheril of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Anne Smith and husband Wade of Owasso, Preston Thomas of Owasso, Tyler Thomas and wife Allyson of Oologah, Elizabeth Thomas of Broken Arrow, Catherine Thomas of Broken Arrow, and Victoria Thomas of Broken Arrow; great-grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Jacob Smith, Alexa Thomas, Dylan Thomas and Adam Robinson; brothers, Jim Turnbull of Hichita, and Johnny Turnbull and wife Lil of Ardmore; sister, Rose Matthews and husband Carl of Owasso; sister-in-law, Beverly Turnbull of Cookson; special nephew, Brad Turnbull and wife Dianna of Collinsville; special niece, Tonya Rozell and husband Mike of Tahlequah; many other nieces, nephews, and numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey L. Thomas; and brother, J.W. Turnbull.
