Funeral Services for Earl Vinson Dorman, Jr., 84, of Sperry, were held Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Sperry Church of Christ in Sperry, OK. Lucian Farrar officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Daniel Dorman, Timothy Dorman, Wade Pool, Michael Dorman, Christian Dorman, and Vinson Dorman. Honorary casket bearers were C.L. Harper and Michael Figart. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Earl was born November 15, 1925 in Blevins, AR to Earl Vinson, Sr. and Ruth Ann (Garner) Dorman. He passed away June 23, 2010 in Tulsa, OK.He retired from the post office in 1994. Prior to working for the post office, he was an inspector with Riley Southwest. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of the Sperry Church of Christ. In the past he had been first a deacon and then an Elder of Home Gardens Church of Christ.He was a World war II Veteran, serving in the US Army in the 10th Mountain Division. He was wounded in battle in Po Valley, Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lee Dorman of the home; sons, Jerry Dorman and wife Janice of Tulsa and Vinson Dorman and wife Lisa of Broken Arrow; step-son, C.L. Harper and wife Kelly; step-daughter, Jan Figart and husband Michael; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Hoskins of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Dorothy Florence Dorman; son, Bobby Dale Dorman; father, Earl Vinson Dorman, Sr.; mother, Ruth Ann Dorman; and brother, Jesse N. Dorman.
