Memorial services for Donald Jay Cook, 87, of Owasso, were held Saturday January 29, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Leonard Pirtle officiated and burial was held in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK.
Donald Jay Cook was born February 8, 1923 in Avant, OK to William Henry “Bill” and Jessie Bell (Coon) Cook. He passed away January 12, 2011 in Owasso, OK.
He was a purchasing accountant for Shell Oil Company. He was involved in the Masonic Lodge for fifty years. He served in the navy where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He loved to cook and liked different foods. He like jalapeno jelly, pickled okra, sour cream and vinegar potatoes, salsa on his omelet, and everything on his deli sandwich. He loved John Wayne movies and NCIS. He did crossword puzzles, read books, and told stories to keep his mind sharp. He loved to travel with Margie. He enjoyed and loved his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Mae; son, Lynn Cook; daughter in law, Linda Cook; grandson, Kenny Cook; granddaughter, Kelly Cook; great-granddaughter, Taylor Cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jessie Cook; son, Thomas Jay Cook.
