Derrel Lee Emery

Funeral services for Derrel Lee Emery, 89, of Tulsa, OK, were held Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Pastor Randy McKerley and Terry McKerley officiated, and burial was in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket bearers were Floyd Emery, Billy Emery, Glen Emery, and John Holcomb.

Derrel was born October 7, 1933, in Skiatook, OK, to Edward Asa Emery, Sr. and Mamie Bell. (Crain) Emery. He passed away April 24, 2023, in Tulsa, OK.

Derrel was an Army veteran. He was a long-time dairy farmer and cattle rancher. Derrel worked hard all of his life due to a strong work ethic that had been instilled in him at an early age by his parents. He loved playing baseball when he was younger and enjoyed watching and listening to sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. In his later years, Derrel enjoyed riding his side by side on the many acres of land that he had grown up on. Derrel attended the CrossWalk Fellowship Church in Sand Springs. His door was always open to family and friends whom he loved to talk with about his life experiences.

He is survived by his sister, Lorna McKerley of Sperry; brother, Jess Emery and wife, Donna of Sperry; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mamie Emery; brother, Ed Emery, Jr.; and sister, Helen Holcomb.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
