Funeral services for Delora Kay (Gregory) King, of Garland, TX were held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Home in Sperry, OK. Reverend E. Wayne Hanks, of First Assembly of God of Garland, TX officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK.
Delora was born on February 8, 1962 in Kenosha, WI to Charles Allen Gregory and Shirley Kay (Folkers) Darden. She went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2012 in Sperry, OK at the age of 50.
Delora spent her early years in Bailey, CO and graduated from Platte Canyon High School in 1980, then went on to Evangel College in Springfield, MO graduating in 1983. She moved to Dallas, TX where she worked as a legal secretary. She was married in October 1986 and had two daughters, Alivia (Livi) in 1990 and Alexandra (Lexi) in 1991. Delora loved being a mother to her two daughters, first and foremost, and she loved spending time with her family. For the last five years, Delora worked in the oil and gas industry at J-W Energy Company, most recently as a production analyst. She loved the Lord and her church. On Easter Sunday, April 1987, they came to First Assembly of God of Garland, TX for the first time and the family later became members. Delora loved being involved in the Women’s Ministries which included the Ladies Bible Study and the Moms in Prayer Group. Delora was a strong woman of faith who loved to read her Bible daily, and who prayed for her family, her friends, and others. She always put others before herself. Delora loved giving to those in need, whether strangers, family, or friends. She was also an accomplished gourmet cook. Her hobbies were antiquing, gardening, and she also had a knack for interior design. Her favorite charities were her church and St. Jude’s Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters, Alivia King of Dallas, TX and Alexandra King of Dallas, TX; mother and stepfather, Shirley and John Darden of Sperry; sister, Cynthia Gregory of Sperry; brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Michelle Gregory of Broken Arrow; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gregory; grandparents, Marland and Caroline Folkers; and grandmother, Vivian Gregory.
