David Jude Leaverton

Memorial services for David Jude Leaverton, 62, of Talala, were held Monday, February 25, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Ms. Helen Leaverton officiated.

David was born December 22, 1956 in St. Joseph, MO to Helen (Leaverton) Shaw. He passed away February 21, 2019 in McAlester, OK.

David was born and raised in St. Joseph, MO and attended St. Patrick Church there. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts, Troop 9 in St. Joseph. He later obtained a degree in Horticulture Gardening. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and horses. David also enjoyed going to various garage sales and could spend all day doing that. David was an artist of flowers and horses. He loved for his mother, Helen to send him pictures of birds. He believed he would come back as a bird or a horse. Most of all, David loved his mother very much.

He is survived by his brothers, Jesse Leaverton of FL; Thaddeus E. Stufflebean of Talala, and George B. Shaw of Sperry; sisters, Theresa Cox of Foyil and Lily Blum of Claremore; aunts, Clarissa Thompson of Owasso and Mary Routen of Ozark, MO; several nieces and nephews; mother, Helen Shaw of Talala; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Lee Worl; and grandparents, George and Lenora Leaverton.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
