Graveside Services for Chester (Chet) Woodroe Durnal, 85, of Tulsa, were held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 9077, Turley, OK. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Chester was born June 2, 1924 in Stillwell, OK to Joe and Anna (Reynolds) Durnal. He passed away January 7, 2010 in Tulsa, OK.

Chester had a lifelong career as an ASME Inspection Specialist. He especially loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He was a Civil War and military history enthusiast. He served in the United States Army in the Field Artillery. He served in the European theatre participating in the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Market Garden ("A Bridge To Far").

He is survived by his wife, Judith E. Durnal; son, Chester Joe Durnal; daughter, Linda Connor; stepsons, Dwight Rake and Clifford Rake; grandson, Evan Durnal; brother, Joe Durnal, Jr.; sisters; JoAnn Fanning and Pauline Langley; aunt, Ida Reynolds; nephews, Don Durnal, Mike Durnal, Edward Durnal, Tom Durnal, Jimmy Lee Fanning, Jerry Fanning, and Tom Langley; niece, Connie Floro; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Anna Durnal, and brothers, J.C. Durnal and Curtis Durnal.
