Charles Edward Akins

Funeral Services for Charles Edward Akins, 75, of Sperry, were held Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Osage Oaks Church of God in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Jerry Harper officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket Bearers were Danny Earven, Gene King, Eddie Blower, R.E. Nixon, Bryce Ford, and Seth Sweet. Honorary Casket Bearers were Dustin Scott, Terry Toothman, and Jimmy Seago. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Charles was born August 11, 1938 in Tucson, AZ to Claude Akins and Ethel (Watson) Jones. He passed away March 31, 2014 in Sperry, OK.

Charles worked for many years as a bindery operator for PennWell Publishing Company. He enjoyed building things with wood, and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Debbie King of Skiatook, Regina Scott and husband Danny of Owasso, Floyd Scott, Jr. and wife Robbie of Broken Arrow; Shawn Akins, and Derrick Akins; grandchildren, Brandi Nixon and husband R.E., Amber Blower, Dustin Scott, and Brooke Scott; great-grandchildren, Seth Sweet, Ryan Eugene Nixon Jr., Jacob Joe Leroy Hurd, and Peityn Jean Ford; brother, Gary Akins; sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” (Akins) Ellis, Beverly Searcy, and Regina Henderson; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean (McCarty) Akins; mother, Ethel Akins-Jones; father, Claude Akins; and sister, Debbie Bradley.
