Cecil Leon Hudson

Memorial services for Cecil Leon Hudson, 62, of Sperry, were held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at First Christian Church in Skiatook, OK. Reverend Dianna Izquierdo officiated and a private family interment followed. Honorary casket bearers were Joseph Hudson, Clinton Hudson, Greg Evans, Lloyd Hudson, Phillip Hudson, Donald Hudson, Tony Hudson, Earl Jenkins, Wayne Willis, and Artie Silkey.

Cecil was born July 18, 1952 in Sperry, OK to Grover Earl and Mary Ellen (Jones) Hudson. He passed away January 28, 2015 in Tulsa, OK with the presence of his wife and children by his side.

Cecil worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He had many talents – he was a youth sports commissioner, all-around coach, truck driver, cow whisperer, and an all-around handyman, who enjoyed making and fixing things, and loved working in the hayfield. Cecil was also an awesome singer, an amazing whistler, loved karaoke and sang at many events. He loved singing gospel music and he loved his church. Cecil collected salt and pepper shakers, walking sticks and rocks and enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions. He loved life, was a life teacher, a practical joker, and loved to travel. Cecil was a dedicated son to both his parents and the Lord, a loving husband, father and Papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was the toughest man that anyone ever knew. He was a grounded man and never needed the finer things in life, just the farm and his family. There will never be another Cecil Hudson.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Hudson of Sperry; daughter, Teneya Birkenholz and husband Jeff of Mannford; sons, Greg Evans and wife Mallory of Oklahoma City, Joseph Hudson and wife Mary of Sperry, and Clinton Hudson and wife Kristin of Ramona; grandchildren, Dalton, Brody, Lucus, Zoey, Charlotte, Nora, Joseph, Jr., Morgan, Kinsley, Madison, Korbin, and Baylee; aunts, Iretha Fetterholf Hammons, and Bobbie Whitten Hudson; uncle, Cecil Edward Jones; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Mary Hudson; mother-in-law, Mary M. Jordan; grandson, Wayde Patrick Birkenholz; brother, Gary Thomas Hudson; grandparents, Clyde Jones, Mildred Burdette Jones, Joe Hudson, and Addie Nichos Hudson; nephew, Dustin Brent Hudson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
